Boulder recently had it's "Boulder Green Streets" ciclovia, and I felt the same way. (Your's looks like a lot of fun, too!) I volunteered for most of Boulder's event, and had many attendees ask me, "How often do these happen?", then would stand shocked when I told them, "Only once a year." More, please!
Yeah, a lot of people wanted to know when the next one would be in Chicago, too. I hope we don't have to wait a year though. There's more discussion of this open streets (vs ciclovia which is more bicycle oriented) on thechainlink.org if you want to throw your 2 cents in.
