So just a little more comment on our trip!
Savannah has many small park squares throughout the city. The squares are arranged pretty much every block which slows traffic dramatically. Cars often need to pass around the squares before moving along and everyone seemed pretty bike friendly. We had a great morning ride through the colonial houses and brick mansions. Thanks to Ash of One Less Minivan for her suggestion that we stop in and take a ride in Savannah. We had a great afternoon snack

Biking Savannah and DC
We visited people in Florida and the Southeast over the recent break and thought we'd tell you about what it's like to ride there with the kids. But after looking at the narrow, poorly maintained 4-lane road shoulders stenciled with a bicycle symbol that pass for bike lanes in Florida we gave up on that. If you want to ride in Florida I hear

The Terrible Swede- a trip to Andersonville with two books
Looks like spring may really be here. Reason enough to want to jump in the air. We have two more reasons. Last month we happened upon two new books we love: Tillie the Terrible Swede by Sue Staufacher, and Wheels of Change by Sue Macy.
Susan B. Anthony famously said "Let me tell you what I think of bicycling... I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel."

An amazing old bike (link)
OK, it's just a link, but this 1930s British tandem with baby seat and an extra child seat is worth linking to! The site it's from is full of cargo bikes and graceful roadsters from 100 years ago. We hope our interest in bicycles never gets as intense as this, though...
Here's the more detailed post about this bike.
New post coming soon.

Cyclelogical Kidical Mass this weekend
This week Kidical Mass will hold a ride at Clarendon Park in concert with Cyclelogical. Many of Chicago's special bike world will be there. The Safe Ride Ambassadors, Working Bikes Coop, and it just so happens Ash of One Less Minivan and Jennifer, half of Chicargobike, will be there as part of the Kidical Mass ride to do a quick workshop about family riding mostly as a question and answer session. Bring your bike and get back out on the road if you've been hibernating!
